Green Square Library and Plaza was originally entered in the Urban Design category, however the Jury felt this constructed urban landscape project aligned with the Civic Category. Truly public in nature, Green Square Library and Plaza contributes to the culture and amenity of the urban environment.

The plaza becomes the communal heart of the future Green Square Town Centre. The thinking that lead to a justly public domain driven approach resonated with the jury. Leadership shown to create a place that in all essence gives back to the community.

The results are a place with many experiences - social gathering to quiet reflection, an ‘urban living room,’ water-play, an amphitheatre and sunken garden, un programmed and open and flexible public domain with public art installations, ever-changing program of activities and events - and a central water feature that references the historic line of Sheas Creek. The Jury congratulates the project team and results.
